Here are a number of photo galleries showing the Trend House and associated materials. The galleries are listed in chronological order.

Gallery One - Calgary Trend House 2001
This gallery shows a series of images of the Calgary Trend House in December 2001 These were the first images that we saw in San Francisco and show the condition of the house prior to our purchase of it.

Gallery Two - Trend House Brochure
This is a gallery of images of the pages of the brochure produced by the BC Softwoods Association that describes the Trend House program and features each of the original ten houses along with some marketing material extoling the virtues of using softwood lumber and the many ways in which it is used in the Trend Houses.

Gallery Three - Interior Demolition
A gallery of photos showing the first stages of renovation of the upstairs bedrooms and master bath.

Gallery Four - Exterior Renovations Year One
While work was starting on the inside, we decided to tackle a few projects on the outside. Since there were no fences on the front of the property we decided to add one, and to remove the bush in front of the house and replace the existing flowerbeds that were made from 4x4s with brick planters.

Gallery Five - Interior Renovations Part II
Once the demolition of the interior was complete we turned our attention to restoring the interior spaces to make the house livable before we moved in. Here are some shots of that stage of the process.

Gallery Six - Exterior Renovations Year Two
Our first full summer in the house we turned our attention to the section of yard immediately outside the kitchen. We decided to extend the patio space in the yard and remove all the grass and replace it with planters, decks gravel and concrete.

Gallery Seven - New Tile Floor
After having lived with a plywood subfloor for 2 years we finally found a material we liked for the entire main floor of the Trend House.

Gallery Eight - Valence
The valence in the living room was one of the very distinctive mid-century modern touches in the interior. After removing the old valence in the initial demolition and adding new drapes, the valence was recreated.

Gallery Nine - Powder Room
The original powder room on the main floor of the house was very sparse and plain. After the new tile floor was added throughout the forst floor attention was turned to renovating this room.

Gallery Ten - Exterior Paint
After two years of living with a grey house we finally took the plunge and had the house painted. So after much debate over colors and timing the house spent 2 weeks undergoing a major transformation.

Gallery Eleven - New Master Balcony
The balcony off the master bedroom was in terrible shape due to the rot that had set in over the years, so after the house was painted we rebuilt in after redesigning it slightly.

Gallery Twelve - Back Fence
The yard facing Elbow Drive was comppletely open until we fenced off the yard this summer.
