Gallery Eleven - New Balcony
The balcony off the master bedroom was in terrible shape due to the rot that had set in over the years. The northwest facing part of the house gets a lot of direct wind, snow and rain so it's no wonder the rot set in. We removed the old balcony for the repainting and now it was time to decide on what to replace it with. The original balcony as designed by the architects was very open and light, but we wanted something that was safer, more private, and helped to block the sound coming off of Elbow Drive. Additionally, we decided to shorten the balcony by 18 inches to prevent people from banging their heads on the corner of the balcony as they are coming around from the kitchen yard.
