Gallery Four - Exterior Renovations Year One
While work was starting on the inside, we decided to tackle a few projects on the outside. Since there were no fences on the front of the property we decided to add one, and to remove the bush in front of the house and replace the existing flowerbeds that were made from 4x4s with brick planters.

The front of the house was blocked by a large evergreen bush that hid most of the living room wall. Clearing it took some effort but the result was that the house looks bigger and the architecture more visible.
Since the property was largely open from all sides we decided that we needed to separate off the east yard so the dogs would have an enclosed space. Eventually another fence will be built on the opposite side of the house and the existing fencing will all be replaced.   Some extra wood was used to build a step at the back door. Note the amount that the patio slab has settled - originally it was level with the bottom of the door.
