Pickles, Glorious Pickles
 
Last year I made my own pickles for the first time ever and they turned out so well that I had to do it again this year. I know it’s a little sad to make such a fuss over something so simple but it’s one of those things that really is (for me anyhow) kind of an eye opener into a life where everything doesn’t come from a supermarket ready to eat.
 
This year we did cucumbers, runner beans and carrots and I can’t wait until November 5th when we will crack the first jar. I think next year I may even try my hand at jam & jelly....

Mike’s Pickle Recipe
6 Quarts Baby Cucumbers
12 Cups Water
4 Cups White Vinegar
3/4 Cups Pickling Salt
2 Tbsp Powdered Alum
1 S!#*load Garlic & Fresh Dill
Cracked Pepercorns
